Great in winter, not so great in August! After Hepburn and I are in, Diego arrives: his cue is if I start reading. Obviously being a cat he has to help and curls up nicely on the open book. I’ve given up reading in bed since he came to live with us. Charlie’s next, curled up by my head on the pillow: nice and loud purring machine. By now things are warm and loud, with three kitty motors running.

This could be really great if I was single: what better way to keep warm in bed than with three furry bundles of love? Thing is my husband usually joins us later, once all are settled in and asleep. He has to fight for pillow space, covers and me! If his approach is successful we all get a good night sleep. The sign to look for is presents in the morning (worms, feathers, sticks…)

If somehow the move is not so smooth, however, toes become targets and all bets are off. This ends generally ends with a cat sitting on your face, or head-butting you until you give up and get up, to realize it’s 4 AM…
