Favorite store for bargains
Bargain hunting can be one of the most fun and rewarding aspects about shopping. For me, there is no feeling quite like finding something I really want for an absolute steal. And if I can find two somethings, well! There are times where I won’t shop in a store known for bargains, but those times are few and far between. Usually, when I shop, I never want to pay full price for something unless the price is a bargain to begin with. So where do I find these bargains? Here is my list of the top four best discount stores:
1. Payless
Payless is the queen of discount shoe stores. Known by all, loved by most, Payless is the only store I know of where you can buy three pairs of relatively high quality shoes for 50 bucks. Sure, the quality can sometimes be suspect, but if you know how to look, you can find surprisingly good quality footwear. I bought a pair of sneakers there once for about $20 that lasted me a year and a seven-mile hike through the New Jersey Pinelands. Payless is always my first stop when I’m looking for a new pair of shoes, because the prices and sales are absolutely phenomenal. They have “BoGo” sales very often, where you can get two pairs of shoes for the bargain basement price of one and a half. Their website is a bit plain, but fairly easy to navigate, and shipping to a store near you is free.
2. DSW
More shoes! I must admit, I love shoes. DSW is a bargain shoe store that is a bit more high-class and consistent in quality than Payless is. DSW’s website is a lot cleaner and nicer-looking, and their stores are arranged much more neatly, with a fresh, polished look. DSW doesn’t look like a discount store, while Payless does. The only problem with DSW is that the discounts aren’t as large, but if you’re looking for a shoe with a bit more quality and pizzaz, or really want to wear a particular brand, DSW is a really good place to start your search- their prices are still hard to beat, and always a bargain compared to other stores that carry the same name brands.
3. Kohl’s
My aunt swears by Kohl’s, and so do I. She manages to never, ever buy anything that’s not on sale there, and can sometimes buy whole outfits for my cousins for little more than pennies. Plus, the quality at Kohl’s is pretty consistent, and the selection is marvelous. Kohl’s is definitely my favorite store for bargains on a wide range of goods, from housewares to clothing to shoes to accessories. They have everything! And their end-of-season sales are ridiculously good- buy anything off-season and the price will be cheap, cheap, cheap. Kohl’s website is also a bit plain, but very clean-looking and it’s easy to find what you want.
4. Any Dollar Store
Dollar stores are amazing. There are some things I wouldn’t buy at dollar stores, like anything electronic and perhaps children’s toys and makeup, but everything else is fair game. Massive quantities of toilet paper for a dollar? Spiral notebooks for a dollar? Wrapping paper for a dollar? I love walking out of a dollar store with many, many bags and only being ten dollars poorer. Dollar stores are the best all-around discount stores, because no matter what you buy, it’ll be a dollar. The only thing to watch out for is tax- it can sneak up on you if you’re really tight on cash!
So there you have it, my four favorite stores for bargains. From these discount stores, you could buy almost anything you need, for amazingly low prices. Happy shopping!
