Video game reviews: Metal Gear Solid 4 – Part 1

At last its here, the original ’stealth em up’. Let me begin by saying I am the first games biggest fan (or one of a million of them anyay). I loved it and still do, everything in it was superb, it had never been seen before and I still play it even today. So when I brought this one home I was almost shaking with anticipation.

But (isn’t there always a ‘but’ when someone builds something up}, to my dismay Metal Gear Solid 4: guns of the Patriots was a major disappointment. Okay the visuals are out of this world but wasn’t that always expected? Still absolutely no complaints on that score, I played it on 50″ HiDef screen and was drowning in the gorgeous looks and thundering sounds.

Still, I don’t buy a game because its pretty and I want to watch. I buy to play and in all honesty by the third act I was bored. Yes you read that correct, I was bored. Numb in fact, partly due to the cut scenes and this is coming from a fan of the first ones cut scenes. I actually loved watching those, and those of the third installment. Sadly these just left me cold. It felt to me like pages and pages of misery come to life. I guess you could expect that being the last one featuring Snake but something about them just made the minutes drag painfully. Very good looking scenes but oh so (sadly) tedious.

Which brings me onto gameplay, the main ingredient obviously. Well the main time it was buisness as usual, sneak around guards in various countries. No fault there, its what we expect and I have always loved the sneaking part as I mentioned. It was the boss battles which finally had me throwing my hands up in despair. To my way of thinking they are simply souped up versions of previous bosses. Perhaps that is what Kojima meant to do, it is one big story afterall but these were unimaginative creatures and totally bland. Which is saying something for beasts named Screaming Mantis and Crying Wolf! (The formers battle not being a battle at all when you suss out how to beat it/her).

It does sadden me to say this but Snakes final bow was more a stagger to the curtain, with the only thing going for it is cinema style, over long and boring cut scenes.

If all the rumours are true about forthcoming titles then I hope the next guy in charge totally re shuffles his ideas.

And all this from a die hard fan who has played all other titles 50 times or more, sad as that may sound.

On a plus side the voice acting was as always brillliant and the extras you get to earn are cool too, its just re playing the game again to make use of these extras made me shrug my shoulders and walk off into the sunset. Much like Snake himself. (Altho not as cool).

How to store your sneaker collection – Part 1

Sneakers, shoes, everywhere. Oh, where you can store my shoes? Have you ever opened the door of the closet and looked in dismay at the pile of tennis shoes piled on the floor of your closet? You have to be somewhere in about twenty minutes and you want to wear that pair of shoes with thick soles. But it will take twenty minutes to sort through the pile to find a mate.

As she throws herself on the outside of the room, you're muttering to yourself. You know you need to get organized so you do not have to search every time you want a pair. After all, you've spent hard-earned money to buy all the shoes. The least we can do is continue to properly.

Ah, ah. In the end, you pull out the companion of the sneaker you were looking for. But it is crushed and dirty. And they are almost new. You feel a bit 'of guilt, as you realize that it's your fault the shoes seem so bad. Promise yourself that you will find a way to store all your sneakers.

Congratulations. You have taken the first important step everyone. You have taken the decision to organize and store your shoes properly. But how should store all these shoes? Where to find space in your room for them?

First, each pair of shoes should be stored separately. Piling them on top of each other leads to crushing or bending of the shoes. The best thing to do is to keep the original box the shoes provided in the package will protect your shoes. For ease of location, this couple is that, using a pen and write something about shoes that will make you understand what a pair. For example, if the shoes are purple and white, purple like the end of the window large enough letters. Also, if you leave your shoes in their original packaging, you can stack one above the other, thus saving floor or shelf space.

The next problem is deciding where to store shoes. Everyone seems to think the shoes should be kept in the bedroom. This is fine if you have plenty of space. However, another place is the dining room next to the door or a room near the back door, depending on which door you use most to go out and get into your home. Many people throw their shoes as they enter the house, so this really makes sense. Why not put your shoes as you are leaving the house. Only a small margin ', make sure you have a bench or a chair near the area so that you can sit and put shoes. Hall Cabinets are generally not as blocked as bedroom closets, so you might have some more space on shelves or on floor.

The last thing to remember is to not put wet shoes away. Shoes should be clean and dry before being put back in their box.

These simple rules will ensure that the next time you need a special pair of sneakers, will be in tip-top shape. And equally important, you will be able to find them at a glance. After all, in today's world, time seems to slip away faster every day. Are you sure you do not lose precious minutes searching for your sneakers.
