President Bushs 2007 Labor Day visit to Iraq: Smart leadership or foolish risk?

Was it foolish for President George Bush to sneak out of the White house and land up the next morning in Iraq? Yes, it was! Oh others might say that it was a perfect opportunity to see whether or not they could sneak the president out of the country regardless of his destination but, what was he thinking?! and what about the security risk? Just think what would have happened if there had been just one security breech! Yes, it was a wonderful thing to go and visit the troops and to let them know that all their hard work and putting themselves on the line really did matter to someone but, I can’t stop thinking if it all had gone terribly wrong. Then what? I realize that President Bush is a hot dog kinda guy and with a take no prisoners attitude but, I have to wonder who advised this trip and was this just a practice run to see if they could do it when we were threatened by a terrorist attack in North America. I think that the supreme leader of one of the largest and wealthiest nations in the entire world should stop and think of what the consequences could be in this country if something happened to him and how devastated the world would be instead of thinking, “Do you think I could sneak out of the country tonight?”.
