Student teachers: Tips for dressing appropriately for the classroom

TEACHERS SHOULD REFLECT THEIR ROLE MODEL STATUS IN THE WAY THEY DRESS

As teachers you are role models. As role models you need to look and dress in ways that students can respect and emulate. Therefore all teachers should dress tastefully and conservatively, but also with a casual flair.

Female teachers should wear nice coordinated suits. They can also wear a dress with a suit jacket or just a nice dress. They can also wear nice pants with a suit jacket. They should always wear nylon stockings and stylish shoes to match there coordinated outfits. Nice sweaters are also okay with pants or a skirt. Dress up your outfit with a matching scarf.

Pants, dresses, and skirts should fit well and not be too tight. Blouses should be conservative and never too low cut. Button your blouses up stylishly and wear nice coordinated scarves with your stylish outfit.

Shoes should be chosen with great care. Never wear sneakers unless you are the gym teacher. You should be wearing a pump or a two-inch heel. A nice flat shoe that is stylish is okay especially if you are tall. Color coordinate your shoes to your outfits.

It is a good idea to have a wardrobe of clothes especially for teaching. About five skirts, five slacks, five dresses, and five suit jackets that you can mix and match. Also include a collection of nice scarves. Jewelry should be minimal. But if it is tasteful, it is okay. A nice watch is always okay.

Men should also dress in a way that is both casual and gives a well-dressed look. They can wear nice sweaters, and comfortable shirts. A few different suits are also nice. They should also have a mix and match wardrobe which also includes a few nice ties. Shoes should be comfortable dress shoes or loafers. Don’t wear sneakers unless you are the basketball or football coach. Shirts can be white or colored. Van Huesan dress shirts in colors are very nice with Van Huesan matching ties. White shirts are the most conservative, but a nice solid-colored dress shirt should be okay and look very stylish. If you sometimes have to roll up your sleeves during that chemistry experiment you can still look casual enough and still be stylish and well dressed.

Men should wear nice long socks that are tight fitting around the ankle so that when your pants leg accidentally rolls up, you will still maintain a well-dressed look.

Makeup and hairstyles are also part of the appropriate wear for the role model teacher. Women’s hairstyles should be both conservative and stylish. And men should always maintain a nice well-groomed haircut.

For women, makeup should also be tasteful. Your makeup should reflect your stylish role model look of both conservative and casual taste.

Your role model wardrobe will be appreciated and emulated by both your students and their parents. Your role model wardrobe will give you respect as a teacher and give you a professional look that combines with the professional aspect of your image as a teacher who is also a role model.

Have you learned to appreciate the dynamic of Urgency?

A while ago sitting down at a restaurant with a couple of my mentors and a couple of our team members, I was confused about the true meaning of Urgency.

One of my mentors said something to the effect of the following:‘Come on guys, you must focus and get on with it. There are a lot of good things happening, and you want to make sure that you are in front of this wave.’

After hearing that, I believe I was confused and didn’t quite know how to digest this hint of urgency. I had and anxious feeling the essence of which was fear. Fear of not reaching the goal in time. Fear of being left behind. This feeling which I had thought was the feeling I was supposed to feel by this urgent clue, was static, similar to the busy noise caused from a technical glitch. Because of its nature which was fear, it lacked the type of onward movement that can be created by the dynamic of urgency.

Also, I remember one of our team members expressing their interpretation of urgency quite differently. They seemed to ‘check out’ emotionally by expressing the emotion that comes from the dynamic of ‘indifference’, while at the same time checking out physiologically, which was accompanied by a slight shoulder shrug. Thinking back I realize that we both digested this sense of urgency incorrectly. My digestion of the process had secreted a little too much acid, while the other person’s digestion process lacked enough digestive enzymes. The way I had handled it had to do with impatience, and frustration which had brought emotional and mental stress up to the surface. The way our team member had handled it had to do with apathy, and indifference, which had caused emotional and mental resistance that wasn’t apparent yet, and still was in existence hiding somewhere in the background. In both cases, the actual underlying emotional currentwas fear and lack. Over the years of immersing myself in personal development, which has been an absolute privilege, I have come to understand that the dynamic of ‘urgency’ is in fact a powerful force that can assist in creating momentum. In essence, the force of urgency winks at us, it gives us clues, and sometimes a loving shove forward yet it is up to us to handle it in an effective manner. Here are a few points to help you understand the Art of Urgency.

-When you are on purpose, situations and circumstances may bring you a sense of urgency. It is meant to remind you to put your sneakers on and no longer spend time on which brand of sneakers you’ll wear or the perfect time to actually put them on.

-Once you are presented with circumstances that cause a sense of urgency, you will notice a sudden shift in youremotions. Notice and don’t allow yourself to go to the zone of indifference or over the bridge to the zone of frustration. This shift in feeling is the beginning of intensity. Yet intensity can always be infused with ease. To begin with, take a long deep breath!

-Don’t resist circumstances that bring about a sense of urgency. The dynamic of urgency can indeed be your friend. It is meant to bring about a feeling of “Intensity”.

-Be aware of not falling into the ‘let me sit and wait for the universe to bring it to me while I do nothing, take no action, and give no valuable service’ syndrome. It has been my experience that many who are on a journey to self growth and realization, tend to shy away from feeling urgency and resist acting upon it. They may say “There is much abundance out there, and we don’t require to be urgent.” Understand they too are tapping into unconscious resistance, the essence of which is still fear. Yes it’s true that there is infinite abundance within the universe, yet without giving service, and without taking action, the flood gates to abundance may not open. Urgency doesn’t have to mean competition, yet it does mean more focus and intensity. If the dynamic of urgency ishandled correctly, can indeed give us the type of intensity required to co-create our desires.

In summary the dynamic of Urgency is meant to create INTENSITY, the essence of which can be Ease. Therefore, when circumstance, people, or situations bring about a sense of urgency to you, simply take that as a hint, put on your sneakers, and start warming up with peace and joy.

Be Brave.Your friend along the way ,

Five Pairs Of Shoes That Every Woman Should Have

We know that everyone loves shoes, buys shoes and has many pairs of shoes in their closets. While you might not need all the shoes that you have in your closets, here are five pairs of shoes that every woman should have:

- Great Looking Business Shoes. You need to have a special pair of smart shoes for work. These should look great, and match well with your suit. They will be perfect for interviews, as well as those important presentations and business trips.

They would usually be black shoes with medium size heel, to make you look taller and in control, but still comfortable enough to wear all day.

- Great Looking Shoes to Wear With Jeans. Who wears jeans with sneakers anymore? As jeans are becoming cooler, and more embellished, you need something cuter then a basic sneaker to go with them.

We recommend cool high heel sandals in the summer, or great looking boots in the winter.

- Great Looking Sneakers. You still need to exercise and go to the gym. While you will not wear sneakers with your stylish jeans, you still need sneakers for exercising and walking outside. There are lots of different sneakers on the market now – pick the ones that fit you, and that fit your exercise routine.

- Cool Dressy Shoes. You have that gorgeous dress, and you need matching shoes to go with it. Get something fun and gorgeous to go with the dress. Splurge a little – here the right shoes will make all the difference.

- The Pink Shoes. You know, everyone has at least one pair of completely impractical, bright pink or bright red shoes. You found them at the store, they didn’t really match any of your outfits, but you just had to have them.

Which ones of these types of shoes do you have in your closet?

How to take an eco

An eco-friendly shower is a simple process that can be learned by using new habits.

Saving water will save you money. This is very important for communities that have water meters.

You’ll also make some contribution towards improving the environment. Score an eco-high-five for conscientious attitude adjustment!

How can you save water? Use less water. (shrug)

The most obvious way is to spend less time showering. I learned about speed showers during the long Maine winters. You do a lot of things quickly when there’s no heat in the morning and the water heater’s abilities are often a hit or miss. Chilly mornings and ice cold water are a great inspiration! Alternatively, just can just decide on what’s the minimum amount of time you need and stick to it. Have someone yell at you if you spend too long (hey, there’s a childhood flashback) or maybe use a clock to time yourself.

Everyone’s got their own showering pattern. Here’s mine

I save a great deal of shower time by wetting my head first. The water runs down my head as I do this, thereby reducing the amount of time I’d need for wetting all my other body parts. I apply shampoo. I let it soak in while I wash the rest of my body with soap. I rinse out the shampoo and then rinse my body. I can sneak some conditioner in there as well with an extra rinse cycle.

Another way to improve your cleansing efficiency is to use a soaped-up hand towel to scrub yourself. The somewhat abrasive surface is good for defoliating your skin, it makes you feel cleaner and it retains water and soap that would normally go down the drain.

A more extreme measure would be to turn off the water anytime you’re not rinsing yourself. First, wet yourself down using a minimal amount of water. Use your soap, shampoo and conditioner as desired, then, when you’re done, give yourself a final rinse. Some people call that a sponge bath (sponge optional). If you want to sneak in an extra short rinse or two, I won’t tell anyone.

You can also save water by other means. If you reset your water heater to a lower setpoint, it’ll vent off less water vapor, and you’ll use less water as a result. You could install a low flow shower head to reduce your rate of usage by up to 75 percent. On the downside, you might feel like you’re not getting as much water as you’d like, so you might spend more time rinsing.

And, last but not least, if you have a partner in life and you’re very dedicated to eco-sensibilities, insist on taking a shower by yourself. Precious water is wasted while swapping back and forth to use the shower head. Hmmm, on second thought, skip that idea. Life is too short. Have fun!

10 Ways To Sneak Some Extra Fruits And Vegetables In Your Family’s Diet

We all know by now that we should be eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day. But knowing and doing are two different things, is not it? Sometimes it is just not easy to get everyone in there. We are constantly tempted to fill up on convenience and junk food. If your family is anything like mine, which was by far the middle of a bag of chips or a bowl of rice or pasta instead of trying an apple or a plate of steamed broccoli. So we'll be creative. Here are some ideas to "sneak" extra bit 'of fruit and vegetables in your diet famiglia.

1. Begin the day with a breakfast smoothie. All you have to do is throw some 'fruit, low-fat yogurt and ice in a blender. You might also want to add one scoop of protein powder in there for good measure. Just blend a few seconds and you have the perfect breakfast ready to go. I like to sip mine in a thermal cup on the way to work. To make it even more attractive to children, use some frozen yogurt or a scoop of ice cream smoothie. They do not believe you're letting them have ice cream for the first colazione.

2. Dried fruit makes an excellent snack any time of day. Add some 'small cartons of raisins to your child's lunch box, pack some yogurt-covered raisins in her husband's briefcase and keep some' trail mix sitting around for snacks. You can also add dried fruit to oatmeal and cereal in the morning. My family loves banana chips in their cereal colazione.

3. Add some 'fruit and vegetable sandwich of your family. You can add a little banana ', slices of apple and strawberry slices to a peanut butter sandwich. Top a turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and whatever else they eat. You can also make a sub shop style vegetable sandwich by combining several different vegetables with some mayonnaise and cheese pane.

4. They have a buffet of salads for dinner. Including a variety of chopped vegetables, some cheese and croutons, and different choices of salad dressing with the lettuce and let everybody create their own salad perfetta.

5. Let them drink their fruits and vegetables. Keep an assortment of fruit juices and vegetables in the refrigerator and encourage everyone to drink as a snack. Get creative. It could begin "family cocktail hour" by pouring everybody a glass of juice of your favorite hockey. Add some straws, cocktail umbrellas and sit together to talk about how every day is andato.

6. Try this for dessert. Place a scoop of ice cream or frozen yogurt in a bowl and top with lots of fresh fruit or congelata.

7. Offerings of fruit and vegetable snacks. You can cut the apples into slices and top with peanut butter or cheese. Cube cheese and serve with grapes. Cut a bit 'of fresh vegetables and serve them with ranch dip. And of course there's ants on a log. Spread of some cream cheese or peanut butter inside a stalk of celery and sprinkle raisins on it (wow, fruits and vegetables, snack) .

8. Try some new fruits and vegetables. Pick something exotic to get the curiosity of your family. With a little 'luck' their curiosity will overcome their initial apprehension to trying something new. You could try artichokes, bananas, papaya, mango, star fruit, or anything else you can find in the production department of your store locale.

9. Making a pot of vegetable soup or a soup that weighs on vegetables and easy for meat. Both of these are a bit 'great comfort food when the weather gets freddo.

10. Start "My Veggie Day". Each family member comes to pick a vegetable one day of the week. The requirements for issuing an installation, provided that each plant tested the week before, otherwise you will not lose a lap and the mother comes to prendere.

Incorporate some of these ideas and have the whole family to eat more fruits and vegetables in any time.

Here's another suggestion:

Now that the whole family got a taste of this, make sure you keep a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables available and ready for a snack su.

Nothin’ Like The 80’s

Are you one of the many people who seem to still be stuck on the 80’s? Ok, so it was something like “a big deal”, but do you ever wonder what it is exactly that makes the 80’s so darn special? It seems like the 80’s has even made a killer impression on the kids of this generation. For instance, think of some of the things that only kids who grew up in that era know about. Do you notice how some things seem to be magically reappearing again? That is good, no, it’s great! But the guest appreances of these certain items don’t exactly have the same spirit or “feel” to it. Who cares, as long as the memory stays alive, the 80’s will never die, right?

Are you ready to get that overwhelmingly giddy feeling inside that only comes along when talking about some of the things that made the 80’s what is was? Remember the exact day you got the Original Nintendo Entertainment System? It either came with Super Mario Bros., Duckhunt or both. Do you remember staying up night after night, determined to “beat the game”. To the side of you was probably a soggy bowl of Nintendo cereal that didn’t even like but you just wanted it because it was “NINTENDO” cereal. What about the unforgettable Contra game that everyone to this day still knows the code that would get you unlimited lives? UP UP, DOWN DOWN, LEFT RIGHT, LEFT RIGHT, B, A, SELECT, START. You cant forget about the universal way to get your game to work, by blowing into the cartridge.

Enough talk about the video games, do you remember listening to songs like “Walk Like an Egyptian”, Thriller, and all the rest of Michael Jackon’s songs? Every kid had a Michael Glove as a part of their daily wardrobe and frustrated themselves to know end trying to perfect the “moon walk”. I know all of you Ladies remember your Jem Doll that had the earing that lit up, and Punky Brewster was the coolest chick alive. Guys, I know you had your He-man action figures and probably those cheap plastic He-man character sneakers to go with them. Barbie dolls had such big hair that every little girl would spend hours playing with. What about all the accessories that went along with her, like the Dream house and convertible; you can’t forget barbie’s boyfriend Ken.

Remember Blue eye liner, just on the bottom lid? Crispy critters cereal, Garbage Pail Kids trading cards, Kids Incorporated, and the Micky Mouse Club were some of the minor things, but tapping into the wardrobe, faded beached denim was in. Remember people use to wear leggins under denim shorts just like Janet Jackson? Remenber loading up your bangs with hairspray so they would do that poufy curve thing-a-ma-jig? Mc Donalds was something to get excited about and MTV and Nickelodeon was the best television station in the world. Remember when the Goonies came out? What kid in their right mind did not want to be Goonie.

Big buttons were cool; the ones that would have either funny sayings or pictures of your favorite celebrity. Run DMC, LL Cool J and all the best rappers were keeping everybody bopping their heads; especiall the song “Rappers Delight”. There are so many things to mention; windbreaker jackets, Popples, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Bright, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, Reebok Pumps, L.A. Gears with the lights on the bottom of the sneakers, Slap bracelets, watches on every part of your body including your hair, Layered slouched socks, High top fades, addidas shell toe sneakers, Teddy Ruxpin, ok, it’s time to take a breath.

Almost every 80’s kid owned a cabbage patch kid which they still have to this day who resembles either one of three people; themselves, their mother/father, or current spouse. We even had the best modes of transportation…big wheels, pogo sticks, pogo balls, scooters, power wheels, four wheel skates which were probably used almost every Saturday at the roller rink; those big wide skateboards with all the sandpaper that cut up your knees when you ran over broken up concrete. Man, those were the days.

Remember getting ready for the first day of school and being excited about using your brand new Trapper Keeper? Saturday mornings meant watching cartoons while eating our favorite box of cereal. Cartoons came on EVERY channel until School House Rock came on. “I know you are but what am I?” was the phrase that irritated friends and drove parents crazy. We were super smart because of programs like Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Romper Room, 3-2-1 Contact and we understood that “knowing was half the battle”. We all dreamed of going on a “physical challenge” while watching Double Dare and our drawing skills are on point because of Win, Lose or Draw. Television shows actually instilled morals and parent’s didn’t have to worry about controlled viewing. We watched 21 jump street, Small Wonder, Mr. Belvedere, Facts of Life, Kids Incorporated, Different Strokes, Webster, Silver Spoons, Alf, Family Ties, Fraggel Rock…and others(feel free to add to the list if more come to mind).

As far as cartoons were concerned, Thunder. Thunder…Thundercats Ruled! Everyone knew the theme song to that and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. Flintstone Kids, G.I. Joe, Muppet Babies, A pup name Scoobie Doo, Heathcliff, Denise the Menace, Care Bears, Denver the last Dinosaur, Voltron, She-ra, Duck Tales, Super Mario Bros, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Get along Gang, the Jetsons, Ritchie Rich, The Snorks, The Smurfs, Jem, Gummie Bears, The popples, Rainbow Bright, and Rescue Rangers were a lot of favorites.

The Bottom line is the 80’s was what you call Fun! We snacked on Big Stuff Oreos, Bonkers, Nerds, even had crystal clear Pepsi. Summertime in the city was made for chasing Mister Softee down with our dollars waving in the air. What could these kids today possibly know about fun?

A walk a day: Exercise for healthy living

If you want to exercise and stay healthy, then try a walk a day. As with any increase in physical activity, consult with a doctor before you begin. The plan is simple. Find a comfortable and supportive pair of sneakers, and a stop watch.

Now, lets begin. Every day, preferably at the same time, you will walk in those sneakers I described. When you start walking, start the stop watch that I mentioned, then stop the watch on completion of the walk. The first day of walking will be for twenty minutes. 10 minutes out – 10 minutes back. You’ll walk at a normal pace, not fast at all. If you feel a need to stretch, do so at the mid-way point, before you head back. Notice your time when you stop the watch and record it in the house. Follow this daily routine for a week.

2nd week – When you start the week, if the previous week was easy for you, add 5 minutes in each direction this time, otherwise stay with the same time. So in this case, lets say that we bumped it up. Now you’ll walk 15 minutes out, then 15 minutes back. You can handle this.

Next phase – Once you get up to 30 minutes out and 30 minutes back, our maximum time frame, we need to do something different. Let’s establish what’s known as a P.R. (Personal Record) You will walk where you normally walk, but just a little faster. When you finish, check the stop watch. 58.02, wow! See, you just established a P.R. for your own walking course. Each time you walk, do not try to set a PR. Try PR setting once or twice a week.

Here’s how it works for me. I walk out of my house, then start the stop watch. I have a long winding road out that I walk. When I return, I stop the watch at my door step, and hope to see 55.00. I know what my half-way time (split) needs to be, so if my pace is too slow, I can pick it up a little.

Inclement weather – If the weather is not cooperating, try Mall walking. Perhaps you’ve seen people in New Balance kicks doing laps on the third level. These are dedicated walkers.

Many Y’s have indoor tracks too. Don’t forget your big work building at lunch or after work if rain is in the forecast. Do not make excuses, the hardest part about a work-out, is being there daily! Once you suit up and get there, you’ll do it.

Caution: Please walk with a partner and not after dark. I also carry a walking stick in case of dogs.

Songs: Smoking

“The Eternal Flame”

I am a lifelong smoker

And I cannot get enough

I smoke between the covers

It’s the never-ending puff

I’m a major league chain smoker

In my car or in the can

I’m the great impersonator

Of the Marlboro Man

(Chorus)

I will never snuff a butt

If there’s tobacco left

I sneak a cig or two at work

My skills are very deft

My teeth are brown

My skin is gray

My house smells like a fire

I’m a walking heart attack

I smoke my funeral pyre

If you ever meet me

Here’s what I have to say

Can I have that last drag

Before you throw that butt away

I’m addicted like no other

Yep, I smoke on my commode

I take my vacations

Down on tobacco road

But I hate to fill my gas tank

That’s three minutes of despair

I have to put my butt out

‘Cause there’s no smokin’ there

When they banned smokin’ in the restaurants

They thought they had me beat

But the laugh’s on all of you

‘Cause I no longer eat

I light the next one with the last one

And I don’t have any doubt

Unless lung cancer gets me

The fire never will go out

(Repeat Chorus, sort of)

I will never snuff a butt

If there’s tobacco left

I sneak a cig or two at work

My skills are very deft

My teeth are brown

My skin is gray

My house smells like a fire

I’m a walking heart attack

I smoke my funeral pyre

If you ever meet me

Here’s what I have to say

You better not start smoking

It’ll kill you dead someday
